$650M arena-entertainment project is set to start in Detroit

Construction of the new hockey arena for the Detroit Red Wings and a 45-block entertainment district will soon get under way. At least 10 Detroit-based firms have been awarded $25 million of the first $30 million in contracts for the projects, which are expected to cost $650 million. Olympia Development of Michigan says the entire project is expected to create 8,300 construction and related jobs. Read the Crain’s Detroit Business story here
