Ala. eyes new state park hotel with oil spill money

Alabama plans to use $135 million in settlement money from the 2010 BP oil spill to resurrect a Gulf Coast state park, including development of a 350-room hotel. Funds have been unavailable to rebuild a Gulf State Park lodge destroyed 10 years ago by Hurricane Ivan. Environmentalists oppose the new project, saying it is improper to use the settlement money for it. Read the Houston Chronicle story here
