The San Diego Unified Port District board is moving forward with a $1.2 billion plan to redevelop a section of San Diego’s waterfront with a mixed-use project. Developer Protea Waterfront Development wants to construct hotels, retail, restaurants and entertainment venues on 70 acres, and the board directed port staff to begin negotiations with the company.
