Life is returning to Oceanside’s downtown Dolphin Hotel, which opened in 1927 and served big-shots and celebrities for decades before falling into decline at the end of the last century. The 27-room hotel continued to serve a rough crowd of mostly long-term tenants until a fire broke out in a second-floor room in January 2015. Firefighters saved the building, but the water from their efforts left extensive damage to the rooms below, and the hotel has been closed ever since. Read The San Diego Union-Tribune story here
