Hotel plans complicate San Diego convention center fate

San Diego’s convention center expansion may depend on its purchase of a lease from a developer that plans to build two hotels on adjacent land. Fifth Avenue Landing LLC says it will move ahead with a 565-bed shared lodging hotel and an 831-room convention-style hotel if the city doesn’t buy the lease Fifth Avenue holds by March 1.
