The upcoming Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., and the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., have driven up occupancy rates and room prices in each city, TravelClick reports. Hotel rates during convention week in Charlotte next month have risen 109 percent against last year’s figures, while the average room rate in Tampa for the convention period this month has gone up 143 percent.
