Midwest U.S. attracting hotel investors

Cities in the Midwest, particularly secondary markets, are becoming targets for growth among hotel developers and brands. Recent activity include Al Habtoor Group‘s purchase of the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield, Ill., and a project by Jackson Street Management to convert a six-story office building in Milwaukee into a hotel. AC Hotels by Marriott has secured deals to open properties in Des Moines, Iowa, and Minneapolis, while Value Place Hotels has added three Minneapolis properties to its pipeline.
