Detroit area sees a retail revival

The Detroit metro area is seeing a surge in new retail leases as chains including H&M, IKEA, The Body Shop, Spanx and Pandora expand their presence in the market. Detroit is on track to end the year with a 9.3 percent vacancy rate, which is about the same as other major Midwestern cities including Chicago and Cleveland, according to a report from Marcus & Millichap.
